What is Coaching?
Coaching is a collaborative partnership. Working with a coach will help you to define your goals and quickly and effectively develop the appropriate strategy to reach those goals. By bringing a fresh perspective and encouraging recognition of new possibilities, a coach can accelerate this process.

What are the benefits of coaching?

An individual who works with a coach can expect to stretch further and accomplish faster than he or she might otherwise. Through powerful questioning and appropriate challenges, the coach will help to speed a client's growth and development. The benefits of the coaching process include more satisfactory prioritization of commitments, increased focus and effectiveness, a more strategic path that will advance the client more quickly toward his or her goals, and enhanced personal development.

How are coaching session structured?

All coaching occurs by telephone. I offer several packages with varying coaching session lengths and frequency. Each package includes email support between coaching sessions and short telephone calls for immediate needs. I also supply resources appropriate to meet each client's particular needs.

How is coaching different from therapy or consulting?

In coaching, the focus is on the present, future goals, and strategies and actions necessary to reach those goals. Coaching may address certain emotions, but the method of approach is always action-oriented. In contrast, therapy tends to concentrate on resolving emotions that result from past events to improve an individual's psychological health.

Consulting generally refers to a process in which an expert provides analysis of and solutions to an individual's or a business's problems; a consultant provides a roadmap and the client elects whether to follow it. Although a coach will sometimes suggest a step or approach to a client (when the coach has the appropriate expertise), provision of solutions is not the goal of a coaching relationship. Instead, coaching is a collaborative effort in which the coach provides the framework in which the client may explore and discover his or her best solutions.
